Back to DC
Well, the honeymoon is nearly over. We woke up today feeling a little down about having to leave, but amazed at how much we managed to do and see in just a few days here. Now it’s time to leave this beautiful island and begin our journey home. Continue reading
Honeymoon, Day 7
Another early day today, this time to get up to Port Allen to catch our ride on Captain Andy’s Sailing Adventure’s Southern Star. We got to the harbor at about 7 and by 7:30 we were checked in and walking down to the 55-foot catamaran to take off. Honeymoon, Day 6
We started the day early so we could get to the Wailua River by 7am, where we rented kayaks and rowed up the river. It took about an hour to get to the trail head, and along the way we saw fish jumping and various species of birds flying above. (No saltwater alligators or fresh water sharks though.) Honeymoon, Day 5
We woke up and started the day with some Hawaiian coffee at the house before we went over to a little shopping mall in Poipu to have Matthew’s bent sunglasses fixed, and as we always seem to do when we are out and about together, we made a new friend. Continue reading
Honeymoon, Day 4
We started this day of our honeymoon with a run through Poipu. It was pretty hot by 9am, but we powered through. Then we packed up the Jeep and headed back out to the beach at Barking Sands. Poipu is nice, but so crowded. Especially compared to this:
Honeymoon, Day 2
We started day two with a morning workout on the base. We went for a run to an outdoor fitness park and then did some interval training on the way back. We got back to the cottage and went straight for the beach: our first dip in the ocean.
Starting our Honeymoon
Just wanted to share a picture we received today from Nate Gowdy, who photographed our wedding for the Seattle Gay News, and let everyone know we are safely in Kaua’i, tucked away in a cottage on the Pacific Missile Range Facility in Barking Sands.
Today is the big day!
We are so excited! We had our rehearsal and dinner last night with our families and the wedding party, and then spent our last nights alone with our families.
Two days!
What a great week it has been so far! We have been really busy getting things done.
